Backend Developer
We’re looking for a highly skilled Experienced Go Developer to join our backend team.
We’re currently transitioning from a PHP monolith to a scalable, service-oriented architecture in Go. We need a hands-on expert to refine and optimize our existing backend systems, while also building new services during this ongoing transition.

What you’ll do?
As an Experienced Go Developer, you’ll be responsible for architecting and implementing backend services that support our global platform. You’ll work closely with a cross-functional team that includes frontend, QA, DevOps, and backend engineers to build scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions. Your work will directly contribute to the expansion of our platform, ensuring smooth operations for millions of users worldwide.
Your responsibilities as an Experienced Go Developer
- Design, develop, and optimize (micro)services using Go, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and efficiency.
- Deploy and manage applications on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) using Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, Firestore, and Kubernetes for containerized deployments.
- Work with AlloyDB, Meilisearch, multiple MySQL databases, and Google Datastore, optimizing database performance, indexing, and query execution.
- Build and maintain robust RESTful and gRPC APIs, ensuring authentication, authorization, and efficient data exchange.
- Improve system performance with caching strategies, optimized query execution, and effective request handling.
- Promote best practices through code reviews, documentation, and knowledge sharing, ensuring high code quality and team collaboration.
What We’re Looking For
- At least 8 years of backend development experience, with a strong focus on Go.
- Expertise in concurrency, memory management, and performance tuning in Go.
- Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Kubernetes, and scalable cloud-based architectures.
- Strong experience in designing and maintaining high-performance APIs and microservices.
- Proficiency in working with relational and NoSQL databases, optimizing queries and schemas for scalability.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment strategies.
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and Stackdriver.
- Has perfect command of the English language, both verbally and in writing. Dutch is a plus.
- Is comfortable working at least 4 days in-office in Haarlem, reduced to 3 days if living more than 45 km away.
- We have flexible office hours; our office is open from 7am till 6pm. You can start your day early
