JobID=1c
Design complex vessels and conversions in a multidisciplinary environment. You’ll transform demanding requirements into constructible, class-compliant solutions, owning stability, resistance, weight, and hydro-structural work while producing clear 2D/3D deliverables and supporting onboard trials.
What you’ll do:
- Manage and execute concept & basic design packages for naval/offshore vessels.
- Translate requirements into technical specs, design bases and assumptions.
- Perform core calculations: stability, speed–power/resistance, weight management, hydro-structural checks.
- Create and maintain 2D drawings (arrangements, construction/mod/demolition) and 3D models.
- Plan/support inclining tests, deadweight surveys and on-board laser scans; process and report results.
- Coordinate interfaces across structures, piping/outfitting, E&A, HVAC and suppliers/co-makers.
- Prepare calculation notes and design documentation for class/client reviews, and resolve any comments.
- Identify risks early (space, weight, producibility) and propose practical trade-offs.
Level expectations
Junior:
- 0–3 years’ experience in naval/marine design or internships, and a solid grasp of hydrostatics/hydrodynamics.
- Able to build tidy drawings/models, run standard calcs and learn toolchains (NAPA/Maxsurf/PIAS/Rhino).
- Curious, detail-oriented, eager to learn from senior mentors and standards.
Senior:
- 5+ years’ experience delivering concept/basic design on complex vessels.
- Confident in leading calculations, guiding juniors, steering interfaces and engaging with class/suppliers.
- Comfortable owning work packages, schedule/cost/quality, and design reviews.
Nice to have (either level):
- Exposure to submarines, frigates, floating offshore or special vessels.
- Familiarity with class review cycles and sea-trial inputs.
- FEM/FEA collaboration or scripting/automation in your toolchain.
Language & workstyle
- Professional English (spoken/written); Dutch is a plus.
- Collaborative, clear communicator; hands-on and quality-driven.
